Introductory Post

Greetings and welcome to NYU MTech Music Reviews!

With this post, I’m kicking off a blog where I review music released by NYU students within the Steinhardt Music Technology program. I plan to review LPs, EPs, and singles on a semi-regular basis (i.e. as often as schoolwork allows me to!) and I’m excited to share my thoughts on your music with you all! Please feel free to notify me when you release new music and I’ll consider reviewing it. I can be reached at nyumtechmusicreviews@gmail.com!

A little bit about me: I’m an undergraduate student within the Music Technology program! I write and record my own music and am thinking about a specialization in electronics. Revealing too much would defeat the purpose of using a pseudonym, so I’m happy to maintain the air of mystery for now :)

Some of my favorite albums include Kehlani's "Blue Water Road", Queen's "The Miracle", Issues's "Beautiful Oblivion", and Silk Sonic's "An Evening with Silk Sonic"! I try and listen to all kinds of music, though my own personal music taste is undoubtedly biased in its own way. As such, I'll refrain from assigning objective "scores" to each album, instead opting for a "personal enjoyment" score that assesses how much I enjoyed the album without attempting to evaluate whether a project is "objectively" good or not. Everyone takes something different away from music, and my opinion is ultimately just that—an opinion of some random college student on the Internet! I just want to share my thoughts on your music with you all, and with any luck, maybe someone will find it insightful.

Please remember to support the artists whose music I review by streaming or purchasing their music. This blog wouldn’t exist without their hard work! Thanks for coming along on this ride with me and I hope you all discover some great music along the way!
